The
Full Monty - Character AnlaysisWritten
by Red Williams The finale of THE FULL
MONTY leaves viewers with a surge of adrenaline, close to tears, and laughing
hysterically all at the same time. Director Peter Cattaneo accomplishes this by
creating loveable characters, intertwining their personal problems with the plot,
and then having them all solved in the last five minutes. The
audience falls in love with the main character, Gaz, as he fights to keep partial
custody of his son. Entering the finale, his problems are two-fold. His son doesn't
look up to him as a role model, and he is unable take the stage due to last second
jitters. His son then gives him a pep talk, which not only helps him overcome
his stage fright, but also clearly indicates that his son sees him as a hero.
Viewers also grow close to Dave, Gaz's best friend, as he struggles to find his
self-esteem. Dave backs out days before
the big show due to his poor self-image, but after talking to his wife shows up
seconds before they take the stage. Page
